Project Description: Projected extensions of the Metro network in Montreal. The City of Montreal long term planning conceived the expansion of several lines in order to increase the overall city transportation. Several projects began and continue for several years simple due to budget and weather constraints, later technical issues evolved with modernization of the transportation technology.
The Blue Line extension: This project consisted of extending the line and providing service four to five new stations and upgrading the electrical infrastructure.
The Orange Line extension: This project consisted of extending the line and providing service two to three new stations and upgrading the passenger accessibility according to handicap standards.
The Laval Line extension: This extension project was to loop Orange with current metro lines. Project consisted of six new stations and total cost of $1.5 Billion project. Later the project was expanded to five more stations and a complete build out of the line with several interchanges with the Orange Line and future branches for possible more expansion.
