Project Description: Major upgrade of sensors and lighting for fire and emergency systems going from freight transportation to a high - speed rail for passenger usage. This project consisted of placing thousands of sensors to capture information and send to data centers in a timely manner and to organize logistically execution of raw information into processed information for signalization controllers.
The PTC (Positive Tran Control)system which drives most all the systems is completely automatically and is installed with sensors, control electronics and surveillance equipment all forming a Distributed Common Ground System. These enhancements will be fully integrated into a corridor-wide PTC system that will be an overlay on the existing rail network. GE-supplied cab signaling and dispatch system used by FECR freight trains. The technology is known as E-ATC (Enhanced-Automatic Train Control). All movement to and from train stations and personnel on the rails is monitored and relayed to rail authorities and to control centers. Totaling over 5,000 km /3100 mi of cabling the project was a major undertaking and involved considerable amount of communication.
